I love the stark beauty of Door County—especially in late fall, winter, and early spring—the solitude of it. Something waits hidden within the landscape, where the whole story is never revealed. -TRV

DOOR COUNTY – Toby Vandenack’s roots run deep in Door County, Wisconsin. His great grandparents settled there in the mid-1800’s. Vandenack has been drawing photographic inspiration from the Door County landscape and environs for five-decades; many of his earliest “serious” images were made on the Door peninsula: “My photographs of Paris may be my most popular, but my Door County work is most personal…” Vandenack’s photographs are included in the permanent collection of the Miller Art Museum.
